Laniel, nestled on the shores of a bay on magnificient Kipawa Lake; above all, it symbolizes a communion with nature. Kipawa Lake and its exceptional natural sites, such as the baie du Canal and a heron ground, offer two picnic areas set up on l’Île Clermont (Island) and l’Île du Huard (Island). In the heart of the village, a huge mural 35 m high by 2 m wide, illustrates the village’s historical moments.You will find a 10 km marked hiking trail 8 km north of the municipality; the Grande chute hiking trail. It offers enthusiasts the possibility of enjoying the sights on Kipawa River; its falls, rapids and cauldrons. Sometimes, you may even catch a glimpse of kayakers who come to dare the whitewaters of the Kipawa River.
