Mine
<p>The Cit&eacute; de l&rsquo;Or invites you to become miner for a day. Live the unique experience of an underground descent to a depth of 300 ft (91 m) into the drifts of the former Lamaque Mine, a certified cultural property since July 2010. Learn about methods of gold ore extraction and various miner trades in Canada&rsquo;s deepest mine accessible to tourists. In our underground auditorium, watch the video "La symphonie du mineur". At the surface, a guided tour of five heritage buildings helps appreciate the impressive size of certain equipment and understand the day-to-day operations of a mining complex. At the assay laboratory, watch ore in the solid state turn liquid before eventually becoming gold bars. An exceptional witness to the one-time gold rush era of Abitibi, the Village minier de Bourlamaque boasts 60 log houses that are still inhabited. An audioguide will take you on a journey through its history and the lifestyle of yesteryear&rsquo;s families. New this year: GeoRally. Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues 4 Témiscamingue |1| Activities and attractions |14| Municipality From township municipality in 1897, Guigues became, in 1912, the municipality of Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues in honor of the first township bishop, Mgr Joseph Eugène Bruno Guigues. Its history unfolds throughout various attractions, among these the Domaine Breen, built in 1906 and the "Dénommé" covered bridge, erected in 1933. Despite the absence of remnants to attest to this, it was in Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues that the first silver mine in Canada (Wright Mine) was opened at the end of the 1800's, until its closing for good in 1952. To emphasize this singular era, the municipality ordered the fabrication of a replica of the mine, to be used as a frame for a sundial with a diameter of 5 metres (16 ft.) and a height of 3 metres (10 ft.). This sundial is unique in the region and has been set up near the church. Today, agriculture and small business are the economic drive of this vacationing sector situated at the heart of Témiscamingue. Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues

Témiscaming 4 Témiscamingue |1| Activities and attractions |14| Municipality Témiscaming is one of only three planned cities in Quebec. Its design was inspired by the English garden town concept. Even today, the Anglo-Saxon architecture, the beds of flowering plants, and the works of art of European origin blend in superbly with the natural and sumptuous setting of this community nested on the hillside.Témiscaming won two Fleurons, thus attesting its status of flower-town and justifying its slogan 'Cité-jardin'. Témiscaming is also part of the 'Village-relais' network. This confirms the quantity and quality of the services delivered to our visitors. Témiscaming’s numerous attractions include the Musée de la gare (Canadian Pacific Railroad museum), which was designated historic monument, and a 7-km linear path for a hike, bicycle ride or other. Discover the breathtaking Gordon Creek falls and explore the path climbing to a scenic point that overlooks the downtown area of Témiscaming and the Ottawa River.
