2nd Eastern Canadian Snow Drag Championship
1 December 2011
Mr. Darryl Geldart, President of CAMAO (Circuit d'accélération de motoneige d'Abitibi-Ouest), announces that a must-attend winter event will soon take place in Abitibi-Témiscamingue: the 2nd Eastern Canadian Snow Drag Championship, Friday, January 20 to Sunday, January 22, 2012. The Friday will be devoted to free test & tune sessions for the competitors, who will arrive from every part of Quebec, Ontario and the United States. The day will end with a free opening night party with music band Toys. Professional caliber competitions will take place on the Saturday and Sunday. Bursaries granted by our sponsors will total nearly $14,000, including prizes offered by Carlisle Belts. Competition registration bursaries could reach some $25,000. Also, Bijouterie Pépite d'Or will offer a watch to the competitor with the best response time throughout the weekend. New activities this year include the Vintage races for professional competitors and 120 CC mini races for children. The shuttle bus service, helicopter rides and webcasting in the big heated top will be back.
"The scope of this championship requires the participation of many volunteer workers and sponsors, who are given the opportunity to promote their products. Snowmobile have significant spinoffs for our community," says Geldart.
The program schedule is available on the website of CAMAO. Just click on the Championship logo, on the home page. Tickets are sold in advance at $8 (12+ years of age) in the following four participating restaurants: Motel Villa Mon Repos, Le Grecquo, La Relève and Mikes. These tickets give a right to access the site during the entire weekend and 10% discount on meals served in those restaurants.
Mr. Geldart is also proud to announce that the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Racing Association (SSRA) and CAMAO are working on finding a place and a promoter to host the first Canadian Championship. In addition to a regular racing schedule, the event will give the best competitors of Eastern Canada an opportunity to measure themselves against the best competitors of Western Canada. The event will take place in winter 2013 and will be open to qualified competitors of the region who wish to compete.
