Récré-eau des Quinze now open!
30 April 2009
Récré-eau des Quinze is a free admission recreotouristic site that provides six (6) marked hiking trails covering a distance of 25 km complete with footbridges, picnic tables, scenic points and parking. The difficulty level of the hiking trails varies from easy to intermediate. Note that Récré-eau des Quinze's 27 km cycling path will open in July 2009.
Water is the thematic thread used by Récré-eau des Quinze to highlight the many features of Des Quinze River and to draw people's attention to its powerful strength, sensitivity and interaction with the living world of a territory blessed by a never-ending multipartite pact. The development area is located between the Première-Chute and Rapide-des-Quinze power stations.
Five (5) service poles formed by the municipalities of Angliers, Notre-Dame-du-Nord, Guérin, Saint-Eugène-de-Guigues and Timiskaming First Nation have structured the development of Des Quinze River. More than 200 persons – mayors, municipal councilors, chiefs, band council members, employees, sponsors, Hydro-Québec officials, schools, volunteer workers and organizations – have brought this project to conclusion, with investments in excess of $600,000 in money, goods and services.
"Récré-eau des Quinze is definitely a plus factor in our approach to tourism: making Témiscamingue known to the Quebec and Ontario markets as the largest outdoor adventureland year round", says Mr. Jean Cotton, Tourism President, Société de développement du Témiscamingue.
