Visual Arts – Five alluring pleasures yours to discover!
26 May 2009
Abitibi-Témiscamingue is about to serve the most epicurian summer ever. Under the very enticing theme of '5 Plaisirs capiteux', the exhibition centers in the cities of Ville-Marie, Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d’Or, La Sarre and Amos have appropriated one pleasure each. About thirty artists will present their work revealing their own interpretation of Enchantement, Désir, Passion, Fougue and Désordre.
At the request of the Association des centres d'exposition de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue, this theme was developed by Rock Lamothe, professor of Plastic arts at the UQAT, who has also accepted to act as the commissioner. "We wanted to serve our population and tourists a menu of summery flavors. This glowing initiative counterbalances the increasing number of interdictions of our society. Five alluring pleasures opposing the seven deadly sins that have influenced behaviors during en entire epoch" explains Lamothe.
The five exhibitions burst in energy. Each one of the five pleasures is explored by seasoned professional artists who have participated in many exhibitions and by artists for whom '5 Plaisirs capiteux' is their very first professional experience.
Each exhibition is an invitation to discover Abitibi-Témiscamingue and fulfill their quest for five alluring pleasures. The instigators of this exquisite initiative hope that the people of Abitibi-Témiscamingue will entice their guests into this luscious adventure. Eager to spread the news, the five exhibition centers of Abitibi-Témiscamingue are listed on www.geocaching.com for adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices.
