7th Edition of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue Emerging Music Festival
21 August 2009
The Abitibi-Témiscamingue Emerging Music Festival (EMF) is arriving soon. The 7th edition of this unique event in Quebec will take place from September 2 to 6, 2009, in Rouyn-Noranda. Tickets and passports are now on sale and the list of the 68 concerts is available online at (www.fmeat.org).
Again this year, free happy hours accessible on a first come first served basis will please more than one. People of all ages, from youngsters to grandparents, are welcome to a free family concert by country music band Madame Moustache at Rouyn-Noranda's public market (7e Rue) on Saturday, September 5, at noon. There is no doubt that the audience will have a tremendous time.
In keeping with the concept initiated at Montreal's Parc Jean-Drapeau seven years ago, a Piknic Électronik event will take place at Rouyn-Noranda's Presqu'île du Lac Osisko. This site is simply perfect to dance all day on the music of Quebec's best DJs, from 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 5. This event is free, so is the Festival's iPod Battle event at Bistro Chez Bob on Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m.
Non-free concerts will kick off with Alfa Rococo on opening night and culminate with legendary pianist Oliver Jones on closing night. Malajube's outdoor concert is another event not to be missed. Fans can expect to make striking discoveries judging from the EMF's most diversified and audacious program so far.
Different accommodation/EMF passport combo packages to accommodate various tourist profiles are available at very affordable prices starting from $150.
