L'Écart.. .lieu d'Art actuel

L’Écart is a self-directed contemporary art center that promotes all disciplines in the broad visual art field in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. It supports professional artists with a sustained contemporary art approach. In addition to providing creative residence to artists, L’Écart is a space for research and creation. L’Écart manages and occupies a building of 20,000 square feet. It defines itself as a social economy enterprise, offering several services including production space, specialized equipment, housing, and a documentation center. L’Écart issues publications and produces events of national and international scope. It fosters the professionalization of emerging artists and facilitates exchanges between the artists in the region and the national artist community. L’Écart produces the Biennale d’art performatif de Rouyn-Noranda, an international performance and interdisciplinary art event.
