MA - Musée d'art
MA - Musée d'art acts as a veritable cultural center. In addition to presenting exhibitions of regional and national scope, MA - Musée d'art is involved in cultural research and mediation activities and organizes workshops promoting history, science, and art. In 2020, it will welcome more than ten (10) exhibitions. Coffee, gifts, arts, and crafts (Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal).
A true cultural center, MA contributes to the vitality of the city. Installed since 2012 in downtown Rouyn-Noranda, it uses its large exhibition halls to participate fully in the development of visual arts in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Through its educational programs, it contributes to the appreciation of the arts by schools and community audiences as well as by the general public.
The MA maintains privileged links with the University of Quebec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue through exhibition and research projects. He also maintains relationships with multiple cultural and community organizations for the programming of one-off events such as storytelling, poetry, theater, and concert. Sensitive to the reality of the First Nations who live on the territory, it maintains special links with their artists whose originality is a striking mark of Anishinabe, Cree, and Attikamek's cultural richness. Finally, thanks to a nascent collection, the MA fixes in the collective imagination a strong and singular Nordic identity. Member of the RMAT: reseaumuseal-at.ca
