Exhibition Centers and Art Galleries

Back in 1922, this Beaux-arts style building housed a court of justice, cells for prisoners and a registry office. Come admire the talent of artists from here and elsewhere as well as several works by world-famous painter Jean-Paul Riopelle, and learn about Abitibi’s history through thematic exhibitions.

Sector: Amos-Harricana

The Vieux-Palais d'Amos proposes temporary exhibitions of local professional and amateur artists as well as world-class artists. It is proud to present a permanent collection of works by the internationally renowned artist Jean-Paul Riopelle. It also promotes the local and regional historical heritage through permanent exhibitions dedicated to Amos’ former court of justice building and medical instruments used in hospitals in the early years of colonization in Abitibi.
