Come and experience the Anicinabe culture, with its 8,000 years of history and privileged connection with nature. Discover our arts, our identity, what we have built and what we create today.

Anisipi

A touristic activity that highlights the natural and cultural heritage of Amos-Harricana, a vast territory marked by the thousand-year-old history of the Anicicabe people. It offers a plethora of activities related to the blue gold. Four immersive environment zones created by Moment Factory will educate, surprise, and touch visitors of all ages and all types. Scheduled to open in mid-July 2022.

Nin Exhibition

Begin the International Decade of Indigeneous Languages, the Nin exhibition is a place to meet and reflect about the revitalization of the Anishnabee language. Nin is a travelling exhibition that was created to share the Anicinabek worldview, and to foster the interest and pride of the Anicinabek youth in their identity, language, and ancestral heritage. FME 20th anniversary

The FME features about a hundred artists and groups from the national and international alternative music scene. It offers intimate and festive concerts, musical experiences set in a spectacular urban scenography, and non-programmed surprises. The festival also welcomes over a hundred Canadian and international industry professionals. The event celebrates this year its 20th edition.

 Cité de l’Or

Become a miner for a day and enjoy the unique experience of descending 91 meters (300 feet) into an underground mine. Visit the ground facilities of this former mine, which includes an analysis laboratory. Learn about the mine’s history through the exhibition “Gold in our veins” and the various mining trades. Visitors to the underground mine must be at least 6 years old and 1.09 m tall; warm clothing recommended and closed shoes required (underground temperature: 8 °C).

Village-Minier-de-Bourlamaque

Explore the Bourlamaque Mining Village and its lovely log homes that remain inhabited. Using an audioguide, wander through the streets of this village, where the past is still present, and discover its history (all year). Make a stop at the historic house, where a new interactive exhibition is presented in a residential setting of the 1940’s. Experience yesteryear’s family life through a variety of themes such as social dilemmas faced by the inhabitants of this mining village.

Magasin général Dumulon

Built in 1924 by the Dumulon family, this historical site was the first general store in the Rouyn Township and a post office. This authentic site offers a guided tour through the history of the Rouyn-Noranda pioneers. In the summertime, comedians play Joe and Agnès Dumulon’s children take visitors on a journey back in
time. Souvenirs and regional products are sold at the site.

Musée École du Rang 2

This school welcomed children from 1937 to 1958. It is very representative of one-room schoolhouses in Quebec both in terms of the physical environment and educational material. This live theatre presentation will allow you to experience a typical class day of the 1940s. The summer theatre, in the barn opposite the school, will allow you to get to know the characters of the time. Recommended booking.

Maison Turgeon

Behind the doors of this house, visitors discover Chazel’s former municipal office and history: daily school life, the influence of the parish priest in community life, the importance of the postmaster, general store owner and Caisse Populaire manager, and the key role played by the local nurse. Vestiges of the past, the farm buildings house animals and forest and agricultural equipment used in the period of colonization.

Obadjiwan/Fort Témiscamingue

A trading post, an enchanted forest, a beach on the edge of a 110-km lake, a native presence dating back 6,000 years, and two centuries of rivalry to control the fur trade. This is Obadjiwan–Fort Témiscamingue National Historic Site!


Cathédrale Ste-Thérère d’Avila

This exhibition center is dedicated chiefly to the presentation of visual arts, but more particularly to contemporary art. The center divides into three halls where some twelve temporary exhibitions are displayed per year in addition to occasional exhibitions of scientific and historical nature. The center has a boutique that abounds in original artworks and items handmade by local artists and artisans.

Through this 2-km walk tour featuring several seating facilities, a series of theatrical scenes, new actors
and new stories, take a journey back to the days of colonization and discover the cradle of Abitibi. With a musician-troubadour and about 30 actors, Amos tells about its rich cultural, commercial, medical and political heritage through prominent personalities and amazing anecdotes
