Duparquet is a former mining town situated halfway between Rouyn-Noranda and La Sarre that now draws visitors with its many natural attractions, such as Lake Duparquet. On one of the roughly 135 islands, that lake boasts some of the oldest white cedars in North America, a phenomenon of great interest to the Lake Duparquet Research and Teaching Forest (or FERLD). A number of attractive accommodation options are supplied by outfitters around the lake. Golfers will enjoy the local course, well known for its well-manicured greens and scenic vistas. The town also attracts many snowmobile and mountain biking enthusiasts.
